More about the inspiration for this painting:
I painted the original that this is based on from a picture I took while we were hiking in the Dolly Sods Wilderness an area in the Allegheny Mountains of eastern West Virginia, it's part of the Monongahela National Forest. We backpacked a 23 mile loop around the area in three days. It was my most challenging hike at the time, and an amazing experience!
